The real cost of not following up on quotes

You drove to the job site. You assessed the work. You wrote the estimate and sent it over. And then... nothing. The customer said they'd think about it, and that was three weeks ago.

This happens constantly in home services. Estimates go out and don't come back. Not because the customer found a cheaper option — most of the time, they just got busy. Life happened. Your quote is sitting in their email, and all it needs is a nudge.

The data is clear: the longer an estimate sits unapproved, the less likely it is to convert. After two weeks, conversion rates drop significantly. After a month, most quotes are effectively dead.

A follow-up email at the right time changes the equation. It doesn't need to be pushy. Something as simple as "Your estimate for the HVAC replacement at 412 Maple Drive is still open — would you like to move forward before summer?" is enough to bring it back to the top of their list.

When this happens automatically for every open quote in your Jobber account, the math starts adding up. Even converting one or two additional quotes per month can mean thousands in revenue that would have otherwise walked away.

The cost of not following up isn't just the lost job — it's the lost relationship. A customer who never hears from you again after an estimate doesn't think of you next time they need service. Follow-up keeps you top of mind.
